Annecy is made for driving: a lake ringed by roads, villages such as Talloires and Veyrier-du-Lac, and mountain passes a few minutes from the old town. Corsiva brings its luxury cars here from its agency in Chambéry, about 45 minutes away. Whether you live here, fly in through Geneva or arrive by train, here is what to know before you book.

In short

Five things to know
  • Porsche Taycan from €299 a day, BMW M3 Competition from €399, Porsche Cayenne Coupé from €450, Mercedes G 63 AMG 2025 from €1,000.
  • Delivery to Annecy station, with the price shown when you book; to your hotel or address around the lake, at a distance-based rate confirmed by our team.
  • Free pick-up in Chambéry, at our agency or the railway station.
  • 200 km a day and fully comprehensive insurance included; the deposit is a card pre-authorisation, not debited if everything is in order.
  • Geneva is about forty kilometres away: delivery to Geneva Airport is possible on quote.

Why drive in Annecy

The town itself is best explored on foot, from the canals of the Thiou to the Palais de l'Isle. The car comes into its own all around it: the lake loop through Sévrier, Duingt, Talloires and Menthon-Saint-Bernard, the hairpins of the Col de la Forclaz high above the water, the climb to the Semnoz, or the Aravis valley towards La Clusaz.

Corsiva is a local rental company, not a middleman: the cars are ours, prepared in Chambéry, and our team answers 7 days a week, from 9am to 6pm. All the details are also on our luxury car rental in Annecy page.

For the lake, our go-to is the Porsche Taycan: instant torque and total silence along the water, with charging points around Annecy. For the passes, the BMW M3 Competition and its 530 hp suit the hairpins of La Forclaz and the Semnoz. For a family or a group, the hybrid Cayenne Coupé has five seats (the fifth is smaller) and a generous boot. And to make an entrance, there is the Mercedes G 63 AMG 2025 and its twin-turbo V8.

Where to collect the car

  • At Annecy station, delivery and collection included, with the price shown when you book: the easiest option if you arrive by train.
  • At your hotel, residence or address in Annecy and around the lake, at a rate based on distance and confirmed by our team.
  • In Chambéry, at our agency or the railway station, free of charge; Annecy is then about 45 minutes away by motorway.
  • At Aix-les-Bains station: the price is shown when you book.

The car arrives checked, fully fuelled or charged; the handover takes about five minutes, with a digital condition report signed on the spot. Handovers take place from 9am to 8pm, Sunday to Friday; the agency is closed on Saturdays, and a rental covering a weekend lasts at least two days.

Summer and winter around the lake

In summer, the lake is at its busiest. Set off early: the shores are crowded from late morning and beach car parks fill up quickly. Cyclists are numerous around the lake and on La Forclaz: French law requires a gap of at least 1.5 m when overtaking them outside built-up areas, and 1 m in town.

In winter, Annecy is also a gateway to La Clusaz and the Aravis. From November to March, the whole fleet leaves winter-equipped at no extra cost, in line with the French Mountain Law. For snowy mountain roads, the Cayenne Coupé and the G 63 AMG, our two 4x4s, are the most capable.

In spring and autumn, the lake loop is quieter, with low light in the late afternoon. For a two-day route, see a weekend around Lake Annecy in a luxury car.

Coming from Geneva

Annecy is about forty kilometres from Geneva, which makes it a natural starting point for expats around Lake Geneva, cross-border commuters and visitors flying into Geneva Airport.

  • Geneva Airport: car delivery on quote, or a chauffeur-driven transfer to your hotel by the lake; the chauffeur is €400 a day on top of the car rental.
  • Driving into Switzerland: the international cover option, at €20 a day subject to approval, extends to Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Spain.
  • Tolls: most French motorways, including the A41 between Geneva and Annecy, are tolled; tolls are paid at the booth by card and are never included in our rentals.

Booking, deposit and insurance

Booking takes about two minutes online: choose the car, the dates and the handover point, then send your request with your driving licence and ID. No payment at this stage. Our team checks availability and your file, then sends a secure Stripe link (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay) for the 30% down payment that confirms the booking. Cancellation is free up to 7 days before you collect the car. Licence issued outside the EU? Contact us on +33 4 80 81 91 38 before booking.

Deposit: a card pre-authorisation taken at handover, held and not debited, released on return if everything is in order: €5,000 for the Taycan, €6,500 for the M3, €7,000 for the Cayenne Coupé and €15,000 for the G 63 AMG 2025.

Insurance: fully comprehensive cover through AXA, Allianz and Groupama is included; for at-fault damage, the repairs or the remaining excess are charged to you, within the limit set in the contract.

Extras: an extra 250 km pack costs €350 (for the G 63 AMG 2025, 100 km for €180 or 250 km for €425); an additional driver is €20 a day.
