Luxury car rental management turns a car that would otherwise spend most of its life in a garage into one that works while you are away. For a buyer, that changes the arithmetic of a dream car: managed by a concierge service from the day it is delivered, it can earn rental income that covers part, or all, of its running costs. Here is how Corsiva sets this up, a worked example based on real rates, and the limits you should weigh before signing anything.

In short

Five things to know
  • The set-up: a new car bought from an official dealer through Corsiva Prime, handed to our concierge service on delivery, and driven by you whenever it is not rented.
  • The split: 70% of the rental income for you, 30% for Corsiva's management.
  • A benchmark: a BMW M3 Competition, about €14,000 of estimated rental income over 12 months, of which €9,800 for the owner.
  • The aim: a car that largely pays for itself. No income is guaranteed.
  • No lock-in: you set your dates and can stop on simple notice.
Please note

This article describes a service; it is not investment advice. The figures are indicative, non-contractual estimates: actual results depend on occupancy and on your availability. No income is guaranteed.

How the set-up works

  1. Choose and buyCorsiva Prime handles the sourcing and import of a new car, bought from an official dealer. The price depends on the model and its specification, and is given on request.
  2. Hand it over on deliveryEvaluation, contract, photo shoot: the car joins the Corsiva fleet, rented self-drive by verified customers or with a Corsiva chauffeur.
  3. Drive it when it is freeYou set your available dates and blocked periods. Outside rentals, the car is yours.

One situation where the set-up makes particular sense: you own a chalet or an apartment in the Alps and spend only a few weeks a year there. A car kept in Savoie is ready for your stays, and rented out the rest of the time.

While the car is rented, Corsiva handles everything: handovers, digital contract, customer screening, insurance, cleaning, preparation, maintenance follow-up and photo and video records before and after every use. Your identity is never shared with renters. More than 30 owners have already trusted us, and the full picture is in our guide for owners in the French Alps.

A worked example: the BMW M3 Competition

Take a car we know well, since it is part of our fleet. The BMW M3 Competition rents for €399 a day at the low-season base rate. Rented for around 35 days a year, the pace our simulator uses for regular availability, it generates about €14,000 of rental income over twelve months.

BMW M3 Competition, over 12 monthsEstimate
Rental income (€399 × around 35 days)≈ €14,000
Corsiva management (30%)≈ €4,200
Your share (70%)≈ €9,800
Average per month≈ €817

Indicative, non-contractual estimate based on low-season base rates, excluding options, surcharges and chauffeur services. No income is guaranteed.

Two points. Thirty-five days a year is a moderate assumption: the car remains available to you for the rest of the year. And results vary widely from one model to another. The Mercedes-AMG G 63 2025 in our fleet rents for €1,000 a day and €2,400 a weekend in low season, but it is also bought and maintained on a different scale. Our simulator runs the numbers for your model in seconds.

Weighing it against the cost of owning

A luxury car costs money whether or not it is rented. These costs vary so much between models and buyers that we do not put figures on them here. These are the items to weigh:

  • Financing: a loan, a lease with an option to buy, or cash, each with its own cost.
  • Insurance: your own policy for your own driving, and how it fits with the insurance Corsiva arranges for rentals. This is covered at the first meeting.
  • Maintenance: servicing, tyres, brakes. Corsiva monitors it and negotiates discounts with its suppliers (garages, bodywork, wheels, detailing and cleaning).
  • Depreciation: the loss of value at resale, which depends on the model, the mileage and the condition of the car.

If you live outside France, add the questions of registration and insurance to the list, and raise them with your own advisers. The owner's share can cover part or all of these costs, depending on the model, the purchase price, the financing and how many days you open to rental. On a car in high demand and often available, it can absorb a large share; on a rarer car, or one you keep for yourself most of the time, much less. Run the numbers with your own figures before you buy; an adviser can do it with you.

Which cars suit the model

Not every car rents equally well. Without drawing up a ranking, a few criteria make the difference:

  • A desirable, well-known car. People rent the car they dream of: sports cars and large SUVs from brands everyone recognises find takers more easily than a niche model.
  • A versatile car. Four or five seats, a usable boot, reassuring behaviour on mountain roads in winter: more customers can rent it.
  • A car that suits chauffeur work, if you also want weddings and transfers: comfort in the back and presence on arrival.
  • Flawless condition and a clear history, which a new car gives you from day one.

Our fleet gives an idea: a five-seat sports saloon (BMW M3 Competition), an electric sports car (Porsche Taycan), a coupé SUV (Porsche Cayenne Coupé) and a prestige 4x4 (Mercedes-AMG G 63 2025). Ask us before you buy: we will tell you plainly whether the model you have in mind has a place in our areas, from Lyon to Annecy, Chamonix or Courchevel. For the resorts, see renting out your car in Chamonix, Megève and Courchevel.

Risks and limits

An honest set-up is also judged by what it does not promise.

  • Occupancy varies. Demand follows the seasons, weekends and events. Some months the car will go out often; others, hardly at all.
  • Wear and tear. Every rental adds kilometres. Photo and video records, the deposit and insurance cover damage; they do not cancel out normal wear.
  • Depreciation. A car that is driven more sells for less. It is a real cost, to be built into the calculation.
  • Income is never guaranteed. Our figures are estimates; the result depends on occupancy and on your availability.
  • Less time behind the wheel. Every slot opened to rental is a slot when you are not driving. You decide where to set the cursor.

In return, nothing ties you in: you can pause or stop the concierge service on simple notice.

Tax: ask an accountant

How rental income is taxed depends on your situation: personal or company purchase, financing, country of tax residence, other income. We give no tax rules, and our estimates take no tax into account. Have the set-up checked by a qualified accountant before you buy; your owner area, which logs every rental and every payout, will then give them precise figures.
